Viva Europa Objectives

  • VISIBILITY of 2011 European Year of Volunteering.
  • TO PROMOTE the European feeling of community through a relevant cultural form rooted in European tradition, opera, to be enjoyed live by the whole European audience.
  • TO MAKE FEEL AND THINK EUROPE by bringing together a significant number of European citizens from many different countries, from any age or cultural background, in a simultaneous participative event, by enjoying and sharing vocal and instrumental music, theatre, visual art, technology and emotions.
  • VISIBILITY of the high quality and innovative force of art, culture and technology in Europe, which becomes clear in this transmission.
  • VISIBILITY of every European city taking part in this initiative, through video and audio references transmitted during the performance intervals to all the participating cities.

Specific Objectives for the European Year of Volunteering 2011

By celebrating the European Year of Volunteering 2011 with this performance of TOSCA, Viva Europa aims to achieve the participation of the largest possible number of citizens in an event of European cohesion, this way giving visibility to the European Union four main objectives of the Year:

  • To create an enabling and facilitating environment for volunteering in the European Union.
  • To empower volunteer organisations and improve the quality of volunteering.
  • To reward and recognise volunteering activities.
  • To raise awareness of the value and importance of volunteering.

The European Year of Volunteering 2011, and within it VIVA EUROPA 2011 JUNE 13TH, aims to deliver the message of promoting Volunteering to all the European Union citizens and public, social and economic stakeholders.
