VIVA EUROPA

VIVA EUROPA is a pan-European cultural initiative consisting in the simultaneous projection on big screens of a live opera performance from the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Spain. Every year on a June evening the general public is invited to participate for free in this very special event that celebrates togetherness all over the continent. The projection takes place in public spaces in participating cities across Europe.

VIVA EUROPA has been associated with the activities of the European Years since its first edition in 2009 and has been held under the patronage of the European Commissioner responsible for each Year.

VIVA EUROPA has received extensive media coverage in its 2009, 2010 and 2011 editions, with hundreds of mentions in press, radio, television and internet.

In 2012, Europa Nostra – the voice of cultural heritage in Europe - initiated its cooperation in this project with the full support of its president Plácido Domingo.
