VIVA EUROPA 2009 JUNE 24TH took place during the European Year of Creativity and Innovation. This cultural event consisted in a live transmission of Wagner’s opera “Die Walküre” from the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia. The performance was interpreted by Plácido Domingo, among others, conducted by Zubin Mehta and staged by La Fura dels Baus. Over 15,000 citizens in nine European cities could simultaneously share this major cultural initiative. The cities involved were Imola and Ravenna in Italy, Sofia in Bulgaria, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester and Swansea in the United Kingdom, Brussels in Belgium and Valencia in Spain. This year, VIVA EUROPA 2010 JUNE 18TH aims to get the largest possible number of citizens and participating cities involved in this splendid experience. |
